Chisin
from Chinese students for four year tenure.
students/for
These might be either for graduate
or post-graduate course of study.
Of these suggestions Northcote
expresses personal preference for No. (2)
although Trustees might find particular
difficulty in giving approval to application
for that purpose since it is less in accord
with Rhodes objects than other two suggestions.
I shall be grateful if Sloss could
be consulted on these proposals and if I
could be informed of his views from University
point of view as well as your own observations
from general point of view of Colony and
Colony's relations with China. I believe
association of Rhodes Trust with Hong Kong
University would be of great value in any
form, but before making any specific proposal
to Trustees, I should like to know your own
and Vice-Chancellor's preferences on above
three or any other suggestions.
